Sand Speed and Survival
For the Searles Brothers, competing in the Dakar Rally was never going to be straightforward. Three years in the making, their journey to the start line was every bit as demanding as the race itself. Qualification alone required competing in a series of gruelling events, each one a test of skill, endurance and sheer determination. Along the way, they faced major setbacks that would have stopped most people in their tracks — but for these two brothers from a small Herefordshire village, giving up was simply never an option.
When the flag finally dropped, they found themselves pitting their abilities against the world's finest off-road riders across thousands of kilometres of punishing desert terrain. Over 10 to 15 gruelling days, through sand, rock and extreme conditions, they pushed themselves and their machines to the absolute limit. Come along to the village hall to hear them tell their remarkable story in their own words — a tale of brotherhood, resilience and one of the greatest adventures in motorsport.
Eighty Years of Farming in North Herefordshire
Farming has been transformed beyond recognition over the past eighty years — and few people are better placed to tell that story than Tony Norman of The Leen. Join us on Thursday, 14th May, as Tony takes us on a remarkable journey through decades of evolution in agriculture, from the rhythms of post-war farming to the technology and innovation that shape the land today.
Having farmed in North Herefordshire for many decades, Tony brings rare first-hand insight into how the countryside, the craft, and the wider farming community have changed — and endured. Whether you're a farmer yourself, have roots in the land, or are simply curious about the world on your doorstep, this promises to be a fascinating and deeply personal evening. Don't miss it.

Portrait of Pembridge
Pembridge is full of historic buildings; we know a lot about them and while the lives of noblemen, bishops and kings are well recorded, little is known about most people whose lives have built the fabric of our community.
“Portrait of Pembridge” helps to explore our past by creating a record of people and events in Pembridge today for future generations.
